I have Book News again!!!

(And I'm still alive! Huzzah!)

Hello Everyone!!!

I know it has been AGES since many of you have heard from me. To make a long story short, I was diagnosed with yet another chronic illness called POTS. You might have heard of it because many people with Long Covid are being diagnosed with it as well. We believe I’ve actually had it since 2015 if not earlier. And a lot of the symptoms I’d been unable to shake through my other treatments (and sometimes blamed on the treatments themselves) were in fact POTS. Basically my autonomic nervous system is out of whack, which causes a host of symptoms throughout the whole body— including intense fatigue, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, brain fog, temperature dysregulation, and more. There’s no cure, but there is treatment to help mitigate the worst of the symptoms. It is only in the last 6-8 months that I’ve started to feel well enough to do more than take care of my own basic needs.

It has been an incredibly long journey, and after so much time fighting my own brain, I’ll admit I’ve lost a lot of my confidence when it comes to writing. But all I can do is keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep at it when it feels hard. I know many of you would love an update about REIGN. And while I am working on it, I’m not in a place yet where I can give any specifics about release. I sort of wrote myself into knots when I was sick, trying to keep going despite the brain fog. Now that things feel a smidge more clear, I’m spending just as much time untangling old stuff as writing new stuff. But I can say that there’s a lot already written that I LOVE, and I hope I’m able to truly do the last book in the trilogy justice. And I promise to share as soon as I have concrete news!

However! I still come to you today with exciting book news!

My writing career started a little over ten years ago with a light-hearted, awkward romance set in college about a bunch of theatre kids. The success of that book launched my career, enabled me to write so many stories I love, and let’s be honest— kept me afloat financially as my body fell apart. I am so, so, SO happy to report that Harper Collins is breathing new life into that book with a brand new illustrated cover! AND… I wrote a special bonus epilogue to go with it! People have been asking me for literally a decade to write about Bliss and Garrick’s wedding, and I finally listened!

The new edition of LOSING IT launches April 25, 2023! It will be available in all the usual online retailers, plus available in person at Target and select Walmarts!

EEEEP! The super fun new illustrated cover is by artist Monique Aimee. I think the thing I am MOST excited about is the cat on the cover! Long time LOSING IT fans know that Hamlet the cat is the real hero!

If you would like to revisit the Losing It series, I’ll be hosting a read-along on my Instagram (@coracarmack) the week the new edition releases. This is my first chance to sort of dip my toe back into publishing since my new diagnosis, and I would love the opportunity to catch up with old readers who have made my career possible, along with any new readers that are picking up the story for the first time! As I mentioned previously, the new edition includes a new epilogue, but it has also been re-edited with some minor updates throughout. It was actually a wonderful experience getting to work on this book again. The simplicity of refining a story that was already written helped me gain back some of the confidence I’d lost when I was so sick.
